Anwar to be charged for sodomy as police wrap up probe?

Malaysian Insider reports that:

The police have completed their investigations into sodomy allegations against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and are going to charge the opposition icon soon for sodomising his accuser Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

Sources told The Malaysian Insider that investigators are "crossing the t's and dotting the i's" and will be relying on Anwar's DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) samples from 1998 when he faced similar charges which cost him the chance to be prime minister.

"Nobody wants a repeat of 1998 when the prosecution had to amend the charges. Anwar has alleged that he had an alibi for the 24 hours on the day the offence took place. So the authorities have to check everything out," said an official who is familiar with the investigations."We understand that there is an attempt to quash credibility of the case even before the matter goes to court. The police cannot say too much because then they will be accused of trial by media and ministers cannot say much because they will be accused to interference.

"This case is built on strong scientific evidence," the official added.

This news comes in the wake of the leaked medical report on Saiful. It certainly will raise many troubling questions about the manner in which the investigations on Saiful's complaint has been handled. It also renews the perception that there is a strong political angle to this whole saga. Very troubling questions that will pervade negatively through to the investment community and Bursa Malaysia sentiments. It looks as though Malaysia may be re-entering another dark chapter.

This news really sucks - especially if you've read Malaysia Today's post on the who's-who in this whole thing.

I hope it is not true - that they are going to charge him. Liking or not liking Anwar aside, this case will drag us all down into a quagmire.

A Lie is always subservient to its master. It is a master and servant relationship. Whereas, Truth does not answer to anyone. It is never-changing just like the laws of the physics.

The truth will reveal itself sooner or later, or has it already been revealed? Many still choose to ignore or be apathetic to it.

And just like the astronomers and scientists seeking the 'truth' in the laws of physics and the universe, we too must get to the Truth lest it be subjected to manipulation by people. Then, Truth will be 'caught' in the same relationship as Lies, and people will not be able to tell the difference.

lightsinthedistance,

Does what ALFRED NORTH WHITEHEAD make sense when he said:

There are no whole truths: all truths are half-truths. It is trying to treat them as whole truths that plays the devil.

Like most, if not all M'sians, I crave for the real truth. Perhaps the starting point should be the truth as to why we have sodomy complaints and statutory declarations flying in all directions ... that truth is clearly that 2 or more groups of people desire to ascend to the throne of power. And, by our rivetted attention to this ultimate reality show, we are, in fact, validating this ugly struggle for power.

But, do we dare to take our eyes off this ugly unfolding spectacle? Probably not because we fear that if we let our guard down, serious injustice will occur; hence the constant refrain, "THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!"

Oh God!
I still don't get it. Saiful told the doctor that he was sodomised by a plastic?

Then, what's the point of all this mess? Charging anwar for what? He's not a plastic, or is he?
Come on man! please don't treat us like a fool!

ct choo,

"There are no whole truths: all truths are half-truths. It is trying to treat them as whole truths that plays the devil."

No, i do not subscribe to the above. Not at all. For what is 'Truth' if it is not the 'whole truth'? Truth is either 'it' or 'not'. No half way about it.

'Half-truths' is a contradicting term to the 'Truth', if we think about it. For what is 'half-truths' but us human beings said is only part of the truths-saying his shophouse burnt down because of own negligence but hiding the fact that he himself committed the arson. The truth is still what really did happened.

Sure, there are grey areas in certain things or laws even, like perhaps whether capital punishment is justified for criminal offenses. Or if an erotic film is considered art. But that is for another topic in another, hopefully, 'brighter' day.

Just my ramblings on this. We all have a nice day!

The point as regards to the case in hand is 'did he or did he not do it'? There's no two way about it.

Like all, if not most Malaysians, i really do hope that Anwar is telling the truth. In fact i tend to be bias to his side of the story.

Well, you can't blame me or any right-thinking person on the streets, when it is clear to be seen that the whole government machinery seem to be fully engage on his 'destruction'.

In fact, I have ask myself to think without favour or prejudice to either side (govt or Anwar), if he could have really done it, but each time my decision still sympathise with him.

Why? Because this government has failed to even listen or pay attention to new evidences that crop up every now and then that would turn the case around. They even try to divert our thinking to be in line with them. We must always ask ourselves why are they doing that?

So, what is the truth here? I do not know. What i do know is that i really hope the truth is with him because if it is not, i do not know what to trust anymore as i have lost my trust in this government already.

lightsinthedistance,

i share your sentiments completely. these are very troubling times and, yes, regardless of it all, we must always have a good day to keep ourselves sane under an insane system of law enforcement and governance.
